My sister forwarded an email to me yesterday that she received from one of her in-laws. It advertised a free directory assistance service called 1-800-FREE411 and she wanted to know if it was for real. According to Snopes.com, it is.
If you've ever resorted to calling directory assistance when you're out on the run and wondering whether that certain restaurant is open Sundays, you know that a few weeks later, you can be looking at a bill of a dollar or more for each of those calls. Of course, there's no such thing as a free lunch. With 1-800-FREE411, you may have to listen to a short ad for some other restaurant, but it could be worth it to save a buck.

Wow. I gave it a try. How cool. 1800-free411 was really easy, and they connected me too. I never used to use 411 because of the cost. Hard to believe this is really free.
Thanks for the tip Mark!
